Four coins and an egg - a vertical column of the 4 British magnetic coins balanced on a real henīs egg - published Easter 2012.
No adhesives, or liquids of any sort. No magnets below, behind, between or in front of the coins.
The coins are held together only by gravity and the magnetic field generated by two Magic Penny magnets, out of sight above.
In January 2012 , new nickel-plated steel UK 5p and 10p coins came into circulation, joining the copper-plated steel 1p and 2p coins in circulation since 1992.
This is only one of many balancing demonstrations under the title "Balancing the forces of Nature" designed by the Magic Penny Trust and Ciencias y Artes Patagonia for simple enjoyment and, hopefully, to stimulate interest in magnetic fields and force fields generally.
Related images including coins balanced on a glass, on a knife edge, and even on a strand of spider silk, can be seen at: www.MagneticCoins.info and www.capat.org.
